Basic Ingredients

The basic ingredients for making Mexican tacos consist of the following.

  • Garlic (2 cloves, chopped)
  • Onions (1 finely diced)
  • Cherry Tomatoes (1/2 pint, each cut into eighths)
  • Green Bell Pepper (Half of a medium size, seeded and chopped)
  • Fresh Cilantro (1 bunch, coarsely chopped)
  • Fresh Coriander Leaves (1 bunch, finely chopped)
  • Ground Cumin Seed (1/4 teaspoon)
  • Lemon Juice (3/4 teaspoon)
  • Salt & Pepper (amount to taste)
  • Hard Taco Shells  or Soft Flour Tortilla (12 and about 6-inch each)
  • Black Beans (15 ounces, rinsed and drained)
  • Sour Cream (8 ounces)
  • Meat filling of your choice (e.g. 1.5 pounds ground beef)
  • Lime Juice (3/4 tablespoon)
  • Quesillo Cheese (4 tablespoons)
  • Lettuce (Shredded)

Tip: If you have time, you can prepare your own Tortillas using dried corn flour, though it is a time consuming process and an imperfect tortilla can ruin the entire dish.

Simple Steps to prepare a Mexican Taco

  1. Making Mexican Tacos - Hard Shell TacosThe first and foremost step is to heat up the frying pan with some olive oil. mix the chopped garlic, onions, tomatoes and green pepper with some chopped cilantro, coriander leaves, ground cumin seed and lemon juice. Add some salt and pepper to the mix and stir it thoroughly in a pan for about 5 minutes. Once done, put these veggie ingredients aside.
     
  2. Cook the black beans in a pot along with some onions and sour cream. Stir them well and put aside for use later.
     
  3. Now comes to cooking the meat.  Brown the ground beef until it is medium well. The best way to do keep turning the steak at regular intervals so that the meat gets seared on both sides till it is medium done. One the meat is cooked, cut it into small pieces.
     
  4. Next heat up the fresh corn tortilla in a pan. Keep flipping it over because it helps the tortilla to get cooked properly. 
  5. Now is assembling the taco. Put the veggie ingredients and bean paste into the tortilla. Then shove some quesillo cheese inside it.  Allow the cheese to melt by keeping the tortilla on a frying pan.
     
  6. Delicious tacos now await your stomach.
